I'm not Soft, I'm Beautiful

I'm not Soft, I'm Beautiful
Oct 17, 2016: The Meaning of Fife

I better discuss my war video before the library closes for Veteran's Day. Does Dateline remember Veteran's Day 2012? That was when they assaulted me behind my back with their show. I survived something that day that was certainly designed to kill me. And I have survived quite a lot of equal abuse from a large group of otherwise powerful people. So why does the illusion persist that I am soft? If I were soft, I would not still be alive. Maybe they get the wrong idea when I address the gentler portion of my readers and listeners, the women and children.

I think that the media wants me to look like a bleeding heart so they can turn me into their war enemy again for the new Korean War. Well, people, I think we should get over there and kick North Korean ass. This is the perfect time to unite Korea. Russia and China appear to be indifferent, so go for it. Get in your planes and tanks and raise hell. Take my righteous rock with you into battle. Fly over their villages with your helicopters blasting out Redundant and scare the hell out of those commies. Kill! Kill! KILL! Maybe I'll even get to play a show for the boys over there before we're all through. I know they love my music - not dogs very much, though.

This will be a good war for Hillary to show the strength of a woman president. It worked for Margaret Thatcher when she defended the Falklands from Argentina. They called her the Iron Lady.

My poem the Tartar War is fiction, not a political statement. It is meant to raise consciousness about the threat of war's potential to dehumanize, not to oppose the government.

It was I who told you Americans that you are a warlike people, not George Carlin, but you know who wrote the poem In Flanders Fields? It was a Canadian soldier-poet, John McCrae. He was killed in action in 1917. My own poor dad died this year on August 6, as I was rewriting the Tartar War. I just finished reading all the gory details of his final few hours. I put it off until now. Too much other strain in my life. So now I would submit my own poem the Veteran for Veteran's Day use, in his honour - if Tom Hanks is all finished lying to you all with it.
